The German Network of Refugee Researchers

is a multi-disciplinary network of academics in Germany with a focus on forced migration, refuge and asylum, as well as international academics focusing on these issues with regard to Germany. We collect and distribute relevant information about researchers, research projects and publications. Our objective is to enhance the academic exchange and collaboration between scholars in Refugee Studies in Germany. The network aims at advancing research on forced migration, furthering an academic debate on the issues of forced migration, refuge and asylum and promoting the public and practical relevance of Refugee Studies.

The network was established by J. Olaf Kleist together with Nora Markard and Jochen Oltmer in June 2013 in Berlin, following a conference on the 20th anniversary of the entry into force of the German asylum law reform of 1993.
Since February 2015, the network has its own blog, which is edited by Ulrike Krause.
Since April 2015, the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft – DFG) supports the associated academic network on fundamental issues of forced migration studies ‘Grundlagen der Flüchtlingsforschung’.
Since 2016 The German Journal for Refugee Studies (Z’Flucht: Zeitschrift für Flüchtlingsforschung) is published in collaboration with Netzwerk Flüchtlingsforschung.
In 2017 the Young Refugee Researchers group was founded.

The network homepage is primarily in German. If you require more information in English, please don’t hesitate to contact one of the relevant co-ordinators listed below.
